Equine Assisted Therapy
Stress and Anxiety Management
As Winston Churchill said, “There is something about the outside of a horse that is good for the inside of a man”.
Our horses have helped us through some difficult times.
We now want other people to be able to experience just how much horses can help with dealing with stress and anxiety. They have given us so much and we want other people to be lifted up by their kindness just as we have.
Please keep reading for more information on Equine Assisted Therapy, how it can help both adults and children, and what we offer here at Stall Kråketorp.
What is Equine Assisted Therapy?
Equine Assisted Therapy (EAT) is a form of therapy that incorporates horses into treatments for a wide range of therapies. Here at Stall Kråketorp, we focus on how horses can aid in the development of interpersonal skills such as patience, emotional awareness, trust, empathy, and responsibility.
In particular, EAT has been quite helpful to children, thanks to the relaxed and open environment it creates. Unlike a therapist’s office - which can feel closed off and daunting - therapy with horses can create a safe space for children - and adults - to open up about more painful memories and emotions, allowing them to properly process them.
EAT can help children - and adults - work through issues such as:
Confidence
Empathy
Patience
Impulse control
Developing healthy relationships
Trust in themselves and others
Emotional awareness and regulation
Problem-solving skills
Social skills
